Meidam Family

Anna Phillippi Meidam's paternal grandparents are Nicholas Phillippi and Katherine Schmitz. Nicholas was probably born in Prussia. Katherine was born 6 Feb 1809 and passed away 10 Dec 1900 at the age of 91, 10 mths, 4 days. George Phillippi Sr. is the only known child of the couple.

George & Anna Meidam

George Phillippi Sr. was born in Prussia 17 Sep 1833 and died in Wisconsin 15 Sep 1905, 2 days before his 72nd birthday. He immigrated to the US in 1851, settling in Buffalo NY where he worked as a tailor. He moved to Ozaukee County WI. north of Milwaukee , in 1853 where he also worked as a tailor. After 2 years there he moved to a farm near Welcome, WI. He served with the Wisconsin 42nd Infantry in the civil war during 1865. He married Elizabeth Long who was born in Austria 12 Feb 1838. She died 20 May 1917 at age 79. Information about her ancestry is unknown. Their children:

George A. Jr., born in Bear Creek, married Mary Anna Schmitt, born 9 Oct 1875, died 22 Sep 1910 after giving birth to Lauretta. Their children:

• Rose, born 28 May 1899, (married Andrew Gregarius, 20 Nov 1918 Outagamie cty vol12/69)

• Norman G., b. 8/28/1894.
• Veronica Ann b. 8/20/1903, (married 3 May 1921 Outagamie cty vol13/169)
• Katherine (Katy) (Catherine?) Katherina on birth record, b. 4/19/1905.
• Sylvester George, b. 8/29/1907. (died in a coal yard accident, Appleton, 20's or 30's)
• Lauretta Clara, died at 2 months, 11/15/1910. Mother died with birth of Lauretta.

Elizabeth married Jacob (Jake) Smith 26 May 1891. Their children:

• Leo Anna was born in the town of Grand Chute, WI. She married George Meidam on 21 Nov 1892 at Bear Creek, (then called Welcome.) (See Meidam genealogy) Mary married Nick Laurisch on 18 Oct 1899. Their children;

  Catherine (Kate) married Oscar Schuman on 11/21/1901. They had no children.
